Osorelojero was formed when the ornate blacksmithing talents of Tiffany Lea merged with the sleek engineered designs of Juan Camilo. Despite having very different natural styles, when these two makers come together the results are pieces of modern elegance. They combine to bring well engineered creative designs into the home.
Artists Bios
Juan Camilo
Juan Camilo is our design engineer at Osorelojero. He has a strong background in mechanical design, energy, productivity, and waste in the industrial sector. Juan is a passionate designer and maker. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia he meet Tiffany Lea while studying for his masters degree in the USA. She introduced him to blacksmithing, inspiring a new ways for creativity .
Juan Camilo received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 from the National University of Colombia, and M.Sc. degree in Mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2020. He worked as an energy consultant for the industrial assessment center in Milwaukee for 2 years. Previously he worked as a mechanical designer and project manager for National transformers of Colombia for almost two years.
Juan Espindola also enjoys juggling, poi spinning, calisthenics, and other outdoor activities, he believes that continuous improvement is the key for success.
Tiffany Lea
Tiffany Lea first learned to weld at age 14 helping relatives work on cars. Her passion for mechanics didn’t end when she went to college , she joined the Army National Guard working as a prop and rotor mechanic on helicopters. While getting her BA in Art at UW Stevens Point she combined the mechanical skills with her creative talents to make 3D metal creations.
After returning to Milwaukee she scaled down her work area to fit in small city apartments by learning the art of jewelry smithing. When she discovered the cooperative work groups of the Maker community she was able to join a studio and was introduced to Blacksmithing as well as receiving more intensive welding training. Now with 7 years of experience behind her work she has a talent for elegant decorative smithed designs that draw inspiration from the natural world.
A constantly active mind Tiffany is often found exploring new hobbies and forms of art. The clean engineered style of Juan Camilo allowed her to find consistency in focus, but in her free time she is often playing around with a new technique or refreshing her memory of old styles.
